Stress Management – Taking Care of Yourself

stress management

Stress is a natural feeling of not being able to cope with specific demands and events. However, stress can become a chronic condition if a person does not take steps to manage it.

There are different types of stress that can be caused by many different factors. During our current exceptionally stressful times, it is even more important to make sure you take care of your physical and mental well-being.

Physical symptoms of stress can include aches and pains, exhaustion or trouble sleeping, headaches, muscle tension and digestive issues, just to name a few.

It is essential to take care of any stress symptoms so that they do not become worse and/or chronic. Some ideas for reducing stress are to:

  • Exercise when you feel symptoms of stress coming on. Even a short walk can boost your mood.

  • At the end of each day, take a moment to think about what you’ve accomplished — not what you didn’t get done.

  • Set goals for your day, week and month. Narrowing your view will help you feel more in control of the moment and long-term tasks.

  • Consider seeing a therapist to relieve any physical symptoms.

At Wellness for the Body, there are a variety of therapists that can help you relieve stress.
