The Indian head massage is based on the ancient Ayurvedic form of healing that dates back almost 4,000 years. It works the upper three chakras: vishuddha or throat chakra, ajna or third eye chakra, and sahasrara or crown chakra. This type of massage can result in physical harmony for healing and vitality, and is especially relaxing.

Some of the benefits of Ayurveda include:

  • Reduced pain and stiffness in the muscles of the face, neck, upper back and shoulders

  • Relief from tension, headaches, eye strain

  • Renewed energy

  • Reduced symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other stress-related feelings

  • Higher levels of creativity, clarity, concentration and memory

  • A sense of tranquility, calmness and positive well-being

  • Sound restful sleep that leaves you feeling refreshed

  • Healthy hair and scalp

  • Balanced chakras

Indian head massage includes some brisk techniques which help to stimulate circulation at the hair follicle. Some techniques include a gentle tug on the hair which also helps to move circulation of the scalp. Pressure points of the head and face are pressed to help reduce stress and muscle tension. Applying pressure to the lines of energy in the scalp is very relaxing and can help melt tension away.

The lymphatic system is stimulated with various flushing techniques. Sinuses are targeted to help decrease sinus pressure.

Many repetitive gentle techniques feel very soothing and relaxing.

Indian head massage is generally a 30 minute treatment offered in combination of a relaxing massage of the back neck and shoulders (total session times available – 60 or 90 minutes).
