Lisa J. Rutherford, RMT - Registered Massage Therapist
During the Covid-19 shut down, we were very busy ensuring we would be prepared and ready to go once we got the green light to reopen. What did this process look like you might ask?
Lead by our Clinic Director, Jennifer Lickver, we created a Covid Action Plan Team. This group was made up of volunteer admin and management staff, as well as therapists. Since we were all home, and unable to work, we wanted to be productive and use our time as wisely as possible. We held weekly virtual meetings to discuss the evolution of the virus, the pandemic, and what impact this might have on not only us, but others around the world. Our Clinic Director was also meeting weekly with other clinic owners to discuss the impact on them and compare reopen strategies. These meetings not only created an outlet of support, they allowed us to brainstorm various reopening scenarios. We were awaiting the final guidelines that needed to be in place from the government, as well as each therapy’s governing body. Our goal was to be prepared for these instructions and feel confident we were going to provide a safe environment for our clients and therapists when returning to work.
At first it was overwhelming, the many things we had to take into consideration. Over time though, and with many productive meetings each week, it all seemed to come together.
Being proactive, we purchased hand sanitizer and cleaning products (that were on the government’s approved list), weeks ahead of actually opening. We wanted to be prepared so that as of day one, we would be ready. We also collaborated on purchasing surgical masks, which all therapists were eventually mandated to wear when treating clients. We put policies and procedures in place to ensure everyone was aware of the new protocols. These were and are still available online at: www.wellnessforthebody.com/covid
A copy of our cleaning protocols are also available in each of the therapy rooms. If you have any questions or concerns about coming to Wellness for the Body during this pandemic, we would happily answer any of your questions. Feel free to email us at: info@wellnessforthebody.com
I am happy to be back working at Wellness for the Body, doing what I love best. As a therapist, I feel very confident every day that I come into work, that we are taking all precautions necessary to reduce the spread of Covid-19, and doing our best to keep everyone safe.
