A speedier return to work and play

The Kinezio' taping method was founded in 1979 by Dr. Kenzo Kase, a Dr. of Chiropractic and Acupuncture. Along with a manufacturer, he designed and engineered an elastic tape which would have the texture and elasticity very close to living human tissues. In cases of injury or overuse, the muscle loses its elasticity - therefore, Dr. Kase needed to develop a tape that would have the same elasticity as healthy human muscle. He was able to produce a tape that possessed the proper degree of elasticity, and that lifts the skin microscopically. It was then that Kinesio® Tex Tape was invented. Its unique properties were based on a study of kinesiology.

The taping technique is used to:

• Re-educate the neuromuscular system
• Reduce pain
• Optimize performance
• Prevent injury
• Promote improved circulation and healing
• Control muscle function

By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system (the components of the central and peripheral nervous systems that receive and interpret sensory information), the taping alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting effect forms folds in the skin thus increasing the interstitial (in-between) space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.

This tape can be used for a variety of injuries both acute and chronic. It has great adherence but leaves no residue upon removal. It is excellent for helping athletes return to play and allows for a speedier return to work and normal daily activities.
